My entire life I have been a die-hard fan of the horror genre. I vividly remember watching the television cut of The Exorcist when I was only 8 years old. It was traumatizing, but at the same time, it is one of my favorite childhood memories. Even though the film made me lose countless hours of sleep, I wanted to see it again and again. When I turned 14, I discovered Fangoria for the first time. A magazine that opened me up to a whole new world of films that I shouldn’t have been watching at that age. Cannibal Holocaust, Nekromantik, and Zombi are the few prime examples. They went above and beyond anything that I had watched prior to them. But one year later, I found something that truly disturbed me. A film called August Underground. It became my standard for extreme cinema and to this day, it is one of my favorite films of all time.
A few months back, I messaged Fred Vogel (the film’s director), and asked him if I could do a painting for the films tenth anniversary. Ten prints of that painting were made, hand-numbered, and signed by Mr. Vogel and yours truly.
